We were deeply saddened to learn of the news yesterday of the passing of Baroness Helen Newlove, CAP’s first Chair from 2011 until 2014.
Kate Winstanley, Director of CAP: ‘On behalf of Community Alcohol Partnerships (CAP), I was very sorry to hear of this news last night. Baroness Newlove was a friend and colleague to CAP when she became the first Chair of our Board.’
‘Baroness Newlove was an incredible supporter in getting CAP off the ground in its early days. Her extraordinary commitment to campaigning against drink-related violence drawn from the tragic circumstances of her own husband’s death. She joined us as Chair in 2011 when we had only 35 CAPs set up. We now have 350 CAPs which is testament to the CAP model she helped to develop. We will continue to honour her by growing more CAPs to tackle underage drinking and its associated harms across the country.’
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family at this very difficult time.
