Welcome to Community Alcohol Partnerships

Next March we’ll be announcing the winners of our annual CAP Awards.  These recognise exceptional achievements in tackling underage drinking during 2020 and demonstrate the vital work that local partnerships are doing to tackle alcohol harm and improve our communities in these most challenging of times.

In the past CAP awards have been presented at our annual Westminster conference. Given the current pandemic we plan to announce the winners at an online event in March and will arrange for awards to be presented locally. Each award winner will receive £250 towards a CAP project of their choice.

You can nominate one or more individuals involved in CAP, your local CAP itself or a local partner that has played a prominent role in making the CAP’s work a success.

You can download a nomination form here and please return it to [email protected] by Friday December 18, 2020. We’re looking forward to hearing about the fabulous work that CAPs have been doing and seeing your nominations!

News and Blogs

A vital part of the CAP’s work has been engaging with young people, getting them involved in the campaign and building their trust. The CAP held engagement nights with local young people to discuss the issue of underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. They told us there was nothing for them to do – the community centre had no funding, access to the sports field had been cut off and there were very few facilities for young people. So far CAP has held community events, reopened access to the sports field, cleared the discussed BMX track and held street art sessions. Working hard to engage with this traditionally difficult-to-reach group has been key to our success.
