Welcome to Community Alcohol Partnerships

Spalding pledge

Our newest Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP) launched in Spalding this week, following the success of our work at Boston and Skegness CAPs.

A large number of partners have come together to form the Spalding CAP, including Public Health, Young Addaction, Spalding Council, Spalding Academy, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Lidl, Tesco and Co-op and it will be co-ordinated by Inspector Gareth Boxall from Lincolnshire Police.

The Rt Hon Sir John Hayes CBE, MP for South Holland and The Deepings, said: “The work of the Spalding Community Alcohol Partnership could not be more important. Our brave police officers are challenged by changing and complex crime that requires a multifaceted and thoughtful response.

Often, this means being reactive – the first to the scene of a crime. However, it is equally important to be proactive – policemen and women known and respected in their communities, dedicated to the deterrence of crime and disorder before it takes place.

Innovative projects such as these will ensure that more young people are prevented from abusing alcohol, enabling them to fulfil their true potential. It has my full support!”

As Chief Executive of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute it is great to see the growth of Community Alcohol Partnerships. They are an amazing way to bring businesses, regulators and communities together to deliver lasting solutions to the issues that underage drinking has on communities and young people. One of my proudest achievements in trading standards was the establishment of the first ever Community Alcohol Partnership and I know colleagues up and down the country are equally proud of the benefits that their local schemes are bringing.
